1959 Cadillac Ambulance "Ecto-1"
The 1959 Cadillac Ambulance "Ecto-1" from Ghostbusters.
Over 4 million toy versions sold, and tons of replicas made by fans, this is one of the most famous movie cars of all time!
There were a few of these ambulances used in the filming of both Ghostbusters movies.
The first ambulance was at Sony Studios backlot in California after the movie was made. The car was left to rot on Sony's backlot for years along with the original Ecto-1A from the second film. The car was in horrible condition and was restored in 2010 and now is used as a promotional vehicle for events. The original Ecto-1 is now kept in mint condition and has been restored back to its former glory.
Some pictures below show the Ecto-1 at Sony before the vehicle was restored.
This is in the original condition after sitting on the lot since after the film was made.
-In the pictures below, notice that the car was left in the same condition as it was in the begining of Ghostbusters II.
It looks dirty and beat-up and has the same wheels as it does in Ghostbusters II. (1989)

"You can't park that here!"
The Grey and Black Ecto-1
When the car is first seen in the film it is in bad condition. Ray arrives in the car and says "It needs some suspension work and shocks. Brakes, brake pads, lining, steering box, transmission, rear-end." he says he bought the car for $4,800.00.
The car was painted this way for the film and this is a different car than the white Ecto-1 that is used in the rest of the film.
